Wake-up call! — Scripture Reflection #051

Hebrews 10:26-27 (New Living Translation)

26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume His enemies.

This is our wake-up call! We cannot expect to receive God’s blessings and promises if we seek the pleasures of the world. Either we are all in for God, or we are in for the world. Romans 6 explains that we are a new creation in Christ; we have died to our sins so that we may live in the freedom that Christ bought for us–that God wants for us. Let’s heed this wake-up call and live a life of discipline and obedience to our patient Father.
