Stay Ready—Scripture Reflection #012

Matthew 24:36,44 (New Living Translation)

36 “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son Himself. Only the Father knows. 44 You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

Some days, I bet that Jesus is not coming back that day, and I use that as justification to turn away from God and sin. I have realized that this is becoming a bad habit for me, so I must stop.

Today’s scriptures do a good job of humbling me and setting me straight with Christ. They remind me to stay ready so that when Jesus does come back, 1) I won’t be caught slipping, and 2) I can rejoice when He does.

Let’s make sure we obey God’s plan for us, remain pure and blameless in His sight, and always look forward to His return so that we are ready for Him!

A small, brown-and-white dog stands on its hind legs, peering intently out a window. The scene conveys a sense of curiosity and anticipation. This represents how we must stay ready for Jesus' return.
