What are you giving your life to?—Scripture Reflection #024
John 6:66-69 (New Living Translation)
66 At this point, many of His disciples turned away and deserted Him. 67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?” 68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know You are the Holy One of God.”
After giving a pretty shocking sermon about the need for people to eat His flesh and drink His blood, Jesus saw many of His disciples leave Him, for lack of understanding. Turning to His remaining disciples, Jesus asked if they were going to follow suit, to which Peter gave an all-star answer: “Who would we go to? You are the Way.” Peter recognized that Jesus is the answer. God revealed to him that Jesus is His son, and that Jesus is the way to eternal life.
Similarly, you must ask yourself a big question today: What are you giving your life to? With so many responsibilities, worries, and distractions all calling for our time and attention, it is of utmost importance that we know what (and who) we are dedicated to. Otherwise, our very souls could be on the line. Peter figured it out. Will you?
