Making Decisions God’s Way-Scripture Reflection #028
Acts 1:24-26 (New Living Translation)
24 Then they all prayed, “O Lord, You know every heart. Show us which of these men You have chosen 25 as an apostle to replace Judas in this ministry, for he has deserted us and gone where he belongs.” 26 Then they cast lots, and Matthias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven.
I find this scripture funny. The disciples had a big decision to make in filling Judas’ position in their ranks, and it appears to have come down to the flipping of a coin. However, there is more to this decision than just chance, and I think we can learn an important lesson from the disciples when it comes to making decisions God’s way.
First, like the disciples, we must involve God in the situation. God is ultimately in control, and part of going His way means surrendering to His will. So pray that His will is done in your situation. Second, make the decision and move forward in confidence. Part of buying into God’s will is trusting that the result will be good. God has your best interests in mind; He will take care of you. Peace comes from trusting His character and promises.
The Question: Do you have a decision to make today? If so, invite God into it, pray that His will be done, and move forward in confidence.
