Actively Remembering God — Scripture Reflection #083
Exodus 12:2,14 (New Living Translation)
2 “From now on, this month will be the first month of the year for you.”
14 “This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must celebrate it as a special festival to the LORD. This is a law for all time.”
As we put away our old lives and pick up the new one that God has called us to, it is helpful to specifically mark the occasion. When we do, we are better able to remember what God has done for us when He saved us. These days are to be like holidays where we praise God for His faithfulness, love, and help.

God wanted the Israelites to understand this as He brought them out from under the yoke of salvery in Egypt. He gave them clear instructions to remember the occasion and set aside time for celebration and commemoration. This way, the Israelites would always remember how God saved them and be able to pass on that knowledge to their children, who could then do the same for their children, creating a legacy of praise to God.
The Question: What times in your life should you specifically set aside as holidays to praise God for His helping hand?
