Call God — Worship Moment v. 19

As I was listening to this song, I was reflecting on how much I call on God throughout my day. I find myself calling out to Him when I feel helpless, when I run into obstacles, when temptation comes my way—it is almost like muscle memory at this point. The one thing I do not do well when I call upon Him is to actually accept His help. (Funny how that works, isn’t it?) I get so caught up in my helplessness and my weakness that I adopt a defeated attitude, and that is most certainly not of God.
“I can call You Faithful, Savior,
There is only one.”
As I thought about this irony, I realized that when I do accept His help, the Holy Spirit gives me verses that directly combat whatever obstacle I am struggling to hurdle at that moment. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God.” When the Holy Spirit brings these verses to my remembrance — when He gives me the Word — He is giving me a piece of Himself to steady my mind and lay His peace upon me. He is my faithful Savior, just as this song declares.
It is important for us to recognize how God comes to help us when we call on Him. Since we know He will be there, we just have to recognize in what form our help comes. Sometimes it will be in a Bible verse, sometimes a friend, or perhaps in a supernatural way. No matter how God does it, let’s ask Him to help us recognize His help today.
“Every time I call Your name,
You come running.”
The Prayer: God, my Savior, thank You that I can call on You for help, and that You come running to my aid. I pray, Lord, that I will recognize in what form You show up so that I can accept You with open arms. Thank You for loving me and saving me. Amen.
