9 But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? 10 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest– 11 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

This one is for me! While napping may not be my problem, I do put off work because “it is not urgent” or because I would simply rather do something else first. The fact is, I am only building a bad habit of laziness and procrastination when I continually use these excuses. I would do better in both the short and the long run to take care of my responsibilities as they come up rather than waiting “until I feel motivated”. I need to take care of business first, then enjoy rest as the reward.
The Prayer: God, thank You for trusting me with what You have. Holy Spirit, please help me to take care of my responsibilities as they come up. Strengthen me and energize me as I go about doing Your will today. Amen.
