I found my reason for living, and, Jesus, it’s knowing You.”

What is the purpose of your life? What gives your life meaning? What fulfills you? These are all questions that seem to nag us throughout our lives, and even drive us forward to some extent. When we have the answers, things look a little clearer. We wake up more motivated. We have a little extra pep in our step. When we do not have the answers, we tend to be more hesitant when making decisions, slower to rise in the morning, and less eager to tackle the duties of the day.

So what are the answers? Is there even an answer to such big questions? Does the answer even stay the same long enough to hold on to?

In his letter to the church in Philippi, Paul encourages the people to continue to grow in their faith in God by following his example of becoming like Jesus Christ. Paul recognizes that in order to be like Jesus, he must truly and deeply know Him. In Philippians 3, Paul declares, “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake, I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him.”

As we get to know Jesus on a deeper level, we understand His calling for us. Understanding His calling allows us to live with purpose and meaning. For Paul, knowing Jesus answered those big questions. It gave him the purpose, meaning, and fulfillment he needed to live his life to the fullest.

Is knowing God the answer to those questions? Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Either way, I believe that giving God your all and truly getting to know Him will answer a lot of life’s questions, possibly even those ones! And besides, in the meantime, it will definitely give you the purpose, meaning, and fulfillment you are looking for. Give it a go 😉
